Hunters who applied for special quota hunts on Tennessee Wildlife Management Areas can now check to see if they were selected.

This year, there were 20,991 applicants this, which was down 1,606 from last year. Of these, 17,007 were successful in the drawing process. After the regular draw, there were 6,553 permits left over. All but 211 of these permits were issued through the vacancy drawing. This means that 6,342 applicants applied for and received permits from two drawings. Some 86% of the applicants were Sportsman License holders, which is up 1% over last year.
There were five drawings held this year. The 3 priority point drawing had 103 successful applicants, the 2 priority point drawing had 58 successful applicants, the 1 priority point drawing had 1,514 successful applicants, the regular drawing had 15,285 successful, and the vacancy drawing took most of the remaining permits with 6,342 successful for a second permit.
There were 211 permits left after all the drawings were completed. Cheatham Lake/Pardue Pond Refuge Nov. 15-21, 08 (17 permits); Laurel Hill Dec. 5-7, 08 (152 permits); and Prentice Cooper State Forest Sept. 20-22, 08 (42 permits). These permits will be available to the public beginning at 9am Eastern (8am Central) on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Permits may be obtained at any TWRA license agent or online. Be sure to retain your receipt, as the receipt serves as your permit. No permits will be mailed for vacancy permit sales.
After the drawing was completed, there were 474 applicants, all but one applied exclusively for President’s Island, that will have 4 priority points for next year. There are 499 that will have 3-year priority, 1,114 with 2-year priority, and 12,019 with 1-year priority.
Many hunters are taking advantage of the opportunity of staying at home and applying for hunts over the Internet. This year, here were 11,755, or 56% of the applicants, that filed their application on-line.
