Jeffrey Wilson Gets Into District 5 City Council Race

County School Board Vice Chairman Jeffrey Wilson has qualified to make the race to replace John "Duke" Franklin on the City Council.

Mr. Wilson turned in his qualifying papers at the election office on Wednesday morning.

Other candidates are Joe Rowe, retired DuPont official and former Election Commission member, and Russell Gilbert, a food service director at Parkridge Valley Hospital.

The election will be held on Nov. 4, and the winner must qualify again in December to run for a four-year term in March 2009.

Precincts in the district include Bonny Oaks, Dalewood, Woodmore, Kingspoint, Eastgate 1 and Lake Hills.

The qualifying deadline is noon on Thursday.
