Jacksonville Suns Nip Chattanooga Lookouts Wednesday Afternoon, 2-1

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Chattanooga and Jacksonville combined for 18 hits but only three runs in a 2-1 Jacksonville win at AT&T Field in Wednesday afternoon action.

Both teams lacked timely hitting. Chattanooga left 11 men on base and Jacksonville stranded 8 base runners.

Twice, with the bases loaded,the Lookouts banged into double plays. In another bases loaded situation, Chattanooga had a runner picked off first.

The Lookouts entered the scoreboard for the first and final time in the second inning. Singles from Justin Turner and Drew Anderson began the rally. Eric Eymann followed with a force out to short, putting runners on the corners. Chris Denove then hit a soft grounder to third, scoring Turner.

Jacksonville took the lead with two runs in the top of the third. Ivan DeJesus led off with a single, which was mishandled by right fielder



Sean Henry, allowing DeJesus to take second. After a fly out and a Rusell Mitchell ground out, DeJesus found his way home. Kelly Gulledge accounted for what eventually turned out to be the game-winning run by blasting a solo shot over the center field wall.

James Adkins (1-3) earned the win by throwing five innings, yielding seven hits and three walks, while striking out three.

Brent Leach recorded his tenth save of the season by throwing the final two innings in shutout fashion.

Sam LeCure (9-7) took the loss, throwing six innings and striking out three. He yielded seven hits and two walks during the outing.

Lookouts Highlights

- Chris Valaika went 1-3 with 2 walks.
- Danny Dorn went 2-4 with a double.
- Justin Turner went 2-4 with a run.
- Drew Anderson went 2-4.
- Eric Eymann went 2-3 with a double.
- Lee Tabor struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings.
- Derrik Lutz pitched a scoreless inning.

Chattanooga will continue their five-game homestand against the Jacksonville Stars at 7:15 P.M., Thursday.
