Run For The Fallen Is Sunday posted August 20, 2008 In coordination with the final day of the cross-country memorial run, “Run for the Fallen,” a 14 mile run/walk has been organized in support and to honor the 14 fallen service members from Hamilton County and surrounding counties in Tennessee and Georgia. The miles to be run will be pledged towards a national total of miles for all fallen service members. On Sunday there will be remembrance runs held in 35 states and four countries. Runners have pledged 4,462 miles for all fallen soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen. “Run For the Fallen” is a cross country memorial run that will be running one mile for every service member killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The run began on June 14 in California and has covered over more than 4,000 miles and 13 states. The dedicated team of runners will run their final day on Sunday, ending in Arlington National Cemetery. It is on this final day, Sunday, that “Run for the Fallen” is encouraging people across the country to run in honor of our fallen service members from both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The event will be held at 2 p.m.at the Tennessee Riverwalk. Registration, start and finish will be at the Maintenance Field accessed by the Robinson Bridge Entrances to the Riverwalk.
