Police Blotter: Man Nabbed With 12 Cold Beers posted August 20, 2008 Police were en route to answer a call on a beer theft when they spotted a man matching the description of the suspect. Police said the man had a sack over his shoulder and they could hear the clank of glass bottles. The sack contained 12 beers that were still cold. They took the man back to the Kangaroo convenience store on Shallowford Road, where the clerk identified him as the thief. Then he was taken to jail - minus the cold beer. * * * Diana Hampton told police she was stopped at a red light in the 3900 block of Bonny Oaks Drive when a black male came up to her vehicle and tried to push his way inside. She said he then started beating on the vehicle and broke the windshield. The woman said she was able to drive away and the man ran off. Police said there were several schoolchildren, a couple of construction workers and a salesman at the corner, and none of them saw the alleged incident. The windshield had a crack, but there was no other damage to the car, police said. * * * Ron Lowe was working at his hot dog stand at 1201 Market St. when flames went up toward his face. He suffered burns to his neck and face. * * * Ken McIntosh said he and his wife were sitting in a back room of their home on Greenbrook Lane when they saw a construction worker next day walked to the property line and relieve himself. He said the act "appeared to be unintentional and not directed at them." Mr. McIntosh asked the officer to speak to the construction worker, and he did. * * * Betty Mays of 12th Avenue said she was sitting inside her house when she heard someone jump into her back yard. She looked out and saw a black male grab her dog house and throw it over the fence. He then left with the dog house in what looked like a red Jeep. * * * Elexia Earls of 26th Street said a man she knows only as "Dookie Butt" came to her residence and started a disorder. She said she began to dial police, and Dookie Butt took off. |
