AKC All Breed Dog Show Is Sept. 13, 14

One of the Southeast’s largest American Kennel Club purebred dog sporting events is coming to the Chattanooga area. The AKC All Breed Dog show, sponsored by the Chattanooga Kennel Club, will be at the Camp Jordan Arena on Sept. 13 and 14.

There will be two days of competition showcasing over 150 AKC breeds as they make their way through class eliminations to the ultimate Best in Show competition.

The Chattanooga Kennel Club commemorates over 75 years of responsible breeding and purebred dog competition hosting top judges, handlers and outstanding dogs from around the country; over 2,000 dogs and their owners will enter the main competition contributing nearly $300,000 to Chattanooga’s economy through hotel, restaurant, car rental and food sales, officials said.

The AKC has declared September as “Responsible Dog Ownership Month” and the Chattanooga Kennel Club has confirmed the theme for this two-day event as: “Becoming a Responsible Dog Owner” celebrating with three special events open for public participation:

AKC Canine Good Citizen Test for AKC registered dogs - 6 months or older;
registration begins at 11 a.m. and is $15 per dog, proof of rabies vaccination required.

Micro-chip Clinic – never lose your dog again. On Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. $35 per dog, $30 with two or more dogs – price includes registration.

AKC Sanctioned “B” Match for AKC registered dogs – 3 months or older,
Registration begins at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Entries are $7. Match beginning a half hour after the All Breed Best In Show, proof of rabies required.

In addition to the main competitions, public events and education materials a variety of vendors selling dog-themed treats and accessories will be available during show hours.

Show hours are 8 a.m. until Best in Show both days.

Gate admission for this event is $5 for adults, free to kids ages 16 and under with an adult.

A portion of event proceeds benefit the McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center.

For safety reasons, no strollers are allowed inside the arena area.
