Some Power Outages Occur
posted August 25, 2008

Power was out to Chattanooga Christian School and along South Broad Street on Monday morning.

There were reports of a power line down and a loud boom near the school.

Don Nanney, who oversees power restoration for EPB, said the problem near Chattanooga Christian may have caused problems at a unit near the old Wheland Foundry.

He said problems were fixed at Wheland and that got most of the power back on along Broad Street.

Workmen afterwards were checking out the downed power line in an effort to get power back on at the school at the foot of Lookout Mountain.

Mr. Nanney said the power outage at Howard High School during the Saturday night football game between Howard and Brainerd was caused by a problem in electrical equipment behind the school.

The game is being completed tonight.

He said a power outage during a Friday night football game at Finley Stadium was related to a problem with a lightning arrestor at the College Hill substation.

Mr. Nanney said he had no record of what may have caused the power to go out during the Chattanooga Lookouts baseball game - also Friday night.
