Sequatchie County Wins Volleyball Opener At Home

Sequatchie County senior, Sammantha Mills, puts the ball over the net.
Sequatchie County opened the 2008 volleyball season successfully Tuesday, defeating visiting South Pittsburg in three sets.

Each team struggled with unforced mistakes in game one (25-21), but Sequatchie made fewer of them during games two (25-13) and three (25-15).

Among the leaders for Sequatchie were senior Rachel Lockhart, 7 kills, 4 aces; freshman Kaytlin Hudson, 5 assists and 4 aces; sophomore Chasity Carlton, 7 aces; senior Brittany Cooley, 6 kills; junior Chelsea Summers, 5 assists and senior Sammantha Mills, 4 digs.

With a strong class of six seniors as well as other returnees, Sequatchie is looking to build on district semifinal finishes the last two seasons.
