Arthur, Mable Lora (Chickamauga)

Mable Lora Arthur, 74, died on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008.

She was born in Lafayette, Ga., on Aug. 2, 1934, to the late Audie and Minnie Smith. She had lived in Blackstone, Va., for more than 24 years before moving back to the North Georgia area. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching hummingbirds and working in the yard with her flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will sadly missed by all that knew her.

She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack L. Groce; second husband, Hubert Arthur; brother, Virgil Smith; and sister, Margaret Brand.

Survivors include her son, Tony Groce and Eliza Dyne, of Roanoke, Va.; daughter, Karen Groce, of Tacoma, Wa.; and sister-in-law, Robert and Ina Mae Smith, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sister, Mildred Gibson, of East Ridge; two grandchildren, Lora Elizabeth Conrad and Anthony Lamar Groce; great-granddaughter, Alexis Lora Conrad; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with Brother Pat Davis officiating.

The family will begin receiving friends after 1 p.m. on Wednesday and prior to leaving for the cemetery Thursday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
