Vaughn, Doris Greenway

Doris Greenway Vaughn, 85, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at her home.

A native of Elberton, Ga., she had lived most of her life in the Rossville and Ft. Oglethorpe area. She retired from the Catoosa County School System in 1995 with 25 years of service, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ft. Oglethorpe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Howell Vaughn; brother, James Greenway and her parents, Carl and Nettie Greenway.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Herbie Day of Charleston, S.C. and Terri and Larry Lowrance of Rossville; two sisters, Dora Hamilton and Nora Cantu, both of Augusta; two grandchildren, Scott (Anna) Day and Dawn Day, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Vaughn’s sitter, Rhonda Mooney and Hospice of Chattanooga for their genuine care and support during this difficult time.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lakewood South Memory Gardens with Rev. John Wyatt officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
