The event will be at Rhythm and Brews, 221 Market Street, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4th. The schedule for the evening will be as follows:

6 - 7 p.m.

7:15 p.m.
World Premiere of "Green Light on the Southern: The Life and Times of Norman Blake"

8:30 p.m.
Music by the New Binkley Brothers (formerly the Hill City String Band)

"Green Light on the Southern" follows the life and music of Chattanooga native Norman Blake, who has been described as the premiere roots musician of our generation. Filmmaker Fred Landry lost his battle with cancer before completing the project, but Nature Films stepped in and prepared the film for its Sept. 4th premiere as a tribute to Mr. Landry.

The film follows Blake from the early days up to Blake's trip to Carnegie Hall for the "O Brother Where Art Thou" concert. In addition to extensive interviews and some live "pickin" music with Blake, hear from some of the most influential and talented musicians in North America, including Sam Bush, John Hartford, Michelle Shocked, Fletcher Bright and many more. This program documents a true American icon and paints a portrait of a man whose life, like his music, has been and continues to be made on his own terms.

Tickets are $5 for AEC members and $10 for general admission. Buy tickets at the door, or to purchase in advance call 423 267-1218 or visit www.ArtsEdCouncil.org.
