WWII Veteran Retired From State Of Tennessee

Jack Bennett Heard, 82, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at a local hospital.
He was born on April 4, 1926. He was a native of Tennessee, growing up in Chattanooga, and served in the U.S. Navy for eight years during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired from the state of Tennessee in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Heard; son, Wallace Heard and his wife, Linda; granddaughter, Christene Ramsey and her husband, Ronnie; stepsons, Paul and Jerry Smith; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
