At Least 15 Tennessee Basketball Games To Be Televised Nationally
ESPN College GameDay Will Appear In Knoxville
by special report to The Chattanoogan
posted August 28, 2008

KNOXVILLE -- At least 23 of Tennessee’s 30 regular season games in 2008-09 will be televised, including at least 15 that will be broadcast nationally.

Although the television schedule is not complete, Tennessee will appear on the ESPN family of networks 11 times and CBS will televise four games. Raycom Sports will show eight regular-season games.

Additionally, ESPN has announced that the Vols’ Jan. 31 home game against Florida will be the site of College GameDay Driven by State Farm, the college basketball version of the popular College GameDay football series. The day will begin with two one-hour shows – the first at 11 a.m. EST and then the second at generally 8 p.m. EST – that will originate from the Tennessee campus. The second show will lead in to UT’s game against the Gators, which is the network’s Saturday Primetime game at 9 p.m. EST.

CBS will televise the rematch of last year’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown when the Vols host Memphis on Jan. 24. The network will also show Tennessee’s games at Kentucky (Feb. 21), at Florida (March 1) and at home against Alabama (March 8). This is the most regular season games that Tennessee has ever had televised by CBS.

Tennessee will make the first of eight appearances on Raycom Sports when the Vols visit Georgia Jan. 10. UT will also be on the network against LSU (Jan. 28), at Arkansas (Feb. 4), at Auburn (Feb. 7), vs. Georgia (Feb. 11), vs. Vanderbilt (Feb. 14), at Ole Miss (Feb. 18) and vs. Mississippi State (Feb. 25). Raycom will also televise the first three days of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at the St. Pete Times-Forum in Tampa, Fla. (March 12-14).

Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp return for their 10th season together calling each of Tennessee’s games for the Vol Radio Network.

New season ticket orders will be put on sale Sept. 3 and remaining single-game tickets will go on sale Oct. 15.

Tickets for the SEC/Big East Invitational in Nashville, which also includes the Vanderbilt-South Florida game earlier that evening, are available for $47.50 by contacting the UT Athletic Ticket Office at 865-656-1200 or 800-332-VOLS.
