UTC Athletics Welcomes Three New Staff Members
posted August 28, 2008

Three new staff members have joined the Athletics Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Athletics Director Rick Hart announced Thursday.

Joining the staff are Ryan Peck, Erika Lerum and Chad Flowers.

Peck is the department’s new Director of Marketing and Promotions. He comes to Chattanooga from Boca Raton, Fla., where he was the Director of Sales for Florida Atlantic University. During his two years at FAU, he cultivated a multiyear $508,000 partnership, the largest non-pouring rights sponsorship agreement in FAU’s athletics department history.

An Atlanta native, Peck earned his undergraduate degree in Business from Lander University in 2006 and a master’s of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic. At Lander, Peck was a member of the school’s soccer team.

Lerum will serve as a Marketing and Ticketing intern. Lerum is a 2008 graduate of Northern Illinois University where she spent time as the Sports Marketing and Promotions Intern in Athletics.

As an intern, Lerum assisted with the development and implementation of marketing strategies for football, basketball and volleyball. She also assisted with the management of season ticket renewals for football and men’s and women’s basketball, as well as acquiring new season ticket sales. The Barrington, Ill., native was also a member of the school’s cheerleading squad.

Flowers joins the UTC staff as an intern in the Sports Information Department. He will serve as the primary media contact for the school’s volleyball, softball, and women’s tennis teams.

Flowers spent the last year as the media relations assistant and website operator for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in Starkville, Miss. The Ecru, Miss., native has also worked as a sports reporter and anchor for WTVA-TV in Tupelo, Miss. He is a 2007 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in Journalism.

Hart also announced Thursday that Assistant Sports Information Director Jim Horten will serve as interim Sports Information Director while a national search is conducted for that position.
