Robert Kret, director of the Hunter Museum, gave the Signal Mountain Lions Club an overview of the downtown museum.

He gave the history of the museum, the upgrades that they have done, programs going on and the association they have formed with the Aquarium, Discovery Museum and the city of Chattanooga.

Hunter Museum focuses on American art from the Colonial period to the present day. The variety of the collection inside is reflected by the architecture of the museum's exterior. The museum is housed in an historical mansion built in 1905, a modern 1970s era building and a sleek, contemporary building of steel and glass.

Some of the special attractions include Free First Sunday's – Enjoy the Hunter galleries and craft activities from 2 to 4 p.m. while the gallery lobby will be filled with the rhythm and blues soul-of-Nashville duet, The Light, and on Thursday the After Work Gallery Stroll, a night program from 5 to 8 p.m. with a visit to the gallery and dinner at the café.

The Hunter Museum's Palate Bistro and Café is a great place for lunch, dinner or a quick snack, Mr. Kret said. The menu includes daily specials as well as sandwiches, salads, luscious desserts and gourmet coffee.

The museum has a number of programs for children and adults to get acquainted with the museum. More information is available at www.huntermuseum.org.
