The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting a free workshop designed to help small businesses obtain contracts with major companies.
The workshop, "How to Win Big with Large Companies," will be held on Sept. 11 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the EPB 7th Floor Auditorium.
Panelists are Steve Kovicak, director of supply management at ALSTOM; Lionel Hodges, supplier diversity and technology consultant at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Mark Hampton, vice president of sales and marketing at OmniSource Staffing.
"We are a pleased to have representatives from manufacturing and the service industry, as well as a small business that has experience in winning contracts with Tier One and Tier Two suppliers for major automotive manufacturers," said Kristi Haulsee, Chamber vice president of member-investor services.
"This panel will be able to offer a wide range of information to small businesses interested in becoming vendors to large companies."
A global leader in power generation, ALSTOM is building a new manufacturing facility in Chattanooga that will serve as its base of manufacturing operations in the U.S. and create 350 jobs.
BlueCross BlueShield, which is in the final phase of constructing new headquarters downtown, is Chattanooga's largest employer with 4,801 employees.
OmniSource Staffing is a four-employee, minority-owned franchise that sells to suppliers for Mercedes USA, Toyota, BMW and Honda.
