Chattanooga Police investigators are assisting UTC Police in determining the details of an early morning shooting that occurred at the Boling Apartments on Vine Street.
Police were called to apartment 132 around 2:30 a.m. after a report of a man who had shot himself in the head.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was visiting the apartment of off-duty officer Chase Kilgore at the time of the incident. Officer Kilgore advised that the victim was examining a firearm that was supposed to have been unloaded when he pointed the gun at himself and fired.
The victim was taken to Erlanger Hospital in critical condition. His current condition is unknown.
Police later learned that the Injury was intentional and self-inflicted.
He is a former UTC employee.
