CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - If you prefer hitting over pitching, Thursday night's game between Huntsville and Chattanooga would have pleased you. Both teams flexed their offensive muscles in an 11-7 slugfest at AT&T Field.
Huntsville jumped out of the gate with a vengeance, scoring four runs in the first inning off of Camilo Vazquez (3-3). A Michael Garciaparra three-run shot capped the rally.
The Lookouts countered with six runs in the bottom portion of the first. An Eric Eymann grand slam accounted for the majority of the damage.
Huntsville starting pitcher Jeremy Jeffress (2-1) would not even complete the first frame before being given the hook.
Chattanooga added another run in the third. Eymann started the rally off with a double and advanced to third on an Eddy Rodriguez single. Vazquez helped out his own cause by hitting a sacrifice fly to center.
Garciaparra struck again in the fifth for the Stars, hitting an RBI single to put the score at 7-5.
Chris Heisey hit the second grand slam for the Lookouts on the evening in the seventh to give Chattanooga some much-needed breathing room.
Huntsville added a run in the eighth and ninth, respectively. Michael Brantley hit an RBI single in the eighth, while Garciaparra collected his fifth RBI of the evening on an RBI single in the ninth.

Chattanooga continues their five-game final homestand series against Huntsville at 7:15 P.M., Friday.
