Councilman Manning: Why I Didn't Vote For The East Ridge Tax Increase
by Councilman Denny Manning
posted August 29, 2008

I wanted to say in response to the tax increase that I had said all along I would not vote for an increase, and I would be surprised if everybody likes tax increases? No, they don’t.

So, I was trying to help the business owners, senior citizens, all other citizens of East Ridge from having to pay more taxes.

But one person can’t do it and even to say $4 or more dollars on us is not good in an already bad economy and every utility going up already, plus gas prices and food prices going up.

For the people who think they are mad at me for being the underdog, pray for me and all the citizens who have to deal with this tax increase. We need the prayers. We all need the practice.

God bless you and me on this mission in office to further help the people of East Ridge.

Denny Manning
