Man Fleeing Police Knocks Down 2 Power Poles
posted August 29, 2008

A Chattanooga man was charged with DUI following a wreck at 39th Street and Dodds Avenue early Friday morning.

Police were attempting to make a traffic stop on a tan Altima driven by 36-year-old Gregory Summerow when he took off. Summerow sped down Dodds Avenue, where he lost control of his vehicle and hit two telephone poles.

Poles at 38th and 39th streets were completely wiped out as a result of the wreck. However, it is unknown if phone service in the area was interrupted.

Summerow was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor cuts and abrasions sustained in the accident before being transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

He was charged with DUI and evading arrest.
