Born in Ky., he lived in Tx. and Oh. before moving to Hendon 4 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Gearhart; two wives, Sibyl Gearhart and Doris Morgan; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his son, Randy Gearhart of Phoenix, Az.; daughter, Karen Gary of Springfield, Oh.; granddaughter, Stacey (Brian) Updyke and great grandchildren, Sibyl, Layla and Cadence Updyke, all of Dayton; many nieces and nephews; and lots of good friends.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Dockery officiating. Graveside services will be at a later date in Oh. Visitation is Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hendon Baptist Church, 5238 Hendon Road, Graysville, TN, 37338 for the upkeep of Hendon Cemetery.
