2 Other Erlanger Lower-Level Administrators Also Cut

The top two officials in Erlanger Medical Center's public relations office were casualties Friday in what CEO Jim Brexler described "as part of its ongoing and continuing process of effectively aligning our workforce with operations."
Those losing their jobs were Nancy Poston, senior vice president for marketing and customer relations, and Jan Powell, public relations director.
At the same time, Erlanger cut two "lower-level administrative positions." The names of those personnel were not released.
Mr. Brexler also said in a statement issued Friday, "Erlanger has made some administrative changes today. After a thoughtful and diligent review of the organization, four administrative positions have been affected in a reallocation of the workforce.
"We will continue to review all areas throughout the Erlanger Health System for efficiencies and opportunities to reduce costs."
Erlanger lost $12.3 million in the first 11 months of the last fiscal year, though a sizable profit had been expected. Erlanger officials said Monday they were still tabulating the final loss numbers for the entire fiscal year that ended at the close of June.
In late June, Erlanger cut 200 positions to help with the budget shortfall.
Ms. Poston was making $159,510, and Ms. Powell was earning $71,936.
Ms. Powell was in charge of the hospital's quarterly magazine.
