Cleveland State Community College Welcomes New Faculty Members

Cleveland State Community College recently welcomed seven new faculty members to campus. Miranda Cagle, Karen Dale, Stephen Hays, Nancy Herrig, Mark McLeod, Janie New, and Nancy Thomas have all joined the CSCC family.

Miranda Cagle is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Southern Illinois University where she received her Master of Science in Zoology. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, she was employed as the Community Partnership Coordinator for the Chattanooga Zoo.

Karen Dale is a graduate of Brevard College where she received her associate degree in Fine Arts, Winthrop University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/Drama and Psychology and East Carolina University where she received her Master’s degree in Music. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, she was the Associate Professor of Music at Jackson State Community College.

Stephen Hays is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University where he received his M.D. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, he served as an Adjunct Faculty Member teaching Anatomy and Physiology I and II at Chattanooga State Technical Community College.

Nancy Herrig is a graduate of South Dakota State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and the University of Colorado where she received her Master of Science degree in Community Health Nursing. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, she was the Home Health Director/Administrator for Family Home Care, Inc.

Mark McLeod is a graduate of Winthrop University where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Syracuse University where he received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, he served as a Guest Curator with the Sumter County Gallery of Art in South Carolina and an Adjunct Professor teaching Introduction to Art at the University of South Carolina and Art History and Appreciation at Central Carolina Technical College.

Janie New is a graduate of Roane State Community College where she received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing, her Paramedic Certification and her Emergency Medical Technician Certification. Prior to accepting the position at CSCC, she served as an Emergency Room RN at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and a paramedic for the Anderson County Emergency Medical Services.

Nancy Thomas is a graduate of Mississippi College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received her Master of Science degree in Nursing and Pediatrics. Prior to accepting the full-time position, she was the CSCC Adjunct Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital.
