Northwestern Hosts Auto Alley Event Thursday Formation Of Local Teams To Be Discussed posted September 2, 2008 A representative from the state of Georgia’s Auto Alley initiative will be on the NTC campus to hold the invitation-only meeting. They will look at the importance of developing local teams to help with creating awareness and economic development opportunities which will help with the growth and education of the talent pool of employee candidates in the region. With the announcement of the building of the new one billion dollar Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, this Auto Alley grant comes at an important time. “Our Northwest Georgia counties will be ideal site locations for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 suppliers to Volkswagen given our proximity to Volkswagen,” said Al Hutchison, director of Economic Development Programs at Northwestern Technical College. “Our local and state economic developers are aware of our strategic location and are preparing as many sites and existing industrial properties as they can.” |
