2008 Children's Miracle Network Radiothon For T.C. Thompson's Will Be Sept. 11-13 posted September 4, 2008 For two days, T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital at Erlanger will be transformed to a live studio during the 2008 Children's Miracle Network Legend Loves Kids Radiothon. Patients and their families, along with physicians, nurses, and staff members will encourage Classic Country 98.1 The Legend listeners to help make a difference in the lives of countless area children by calling and making a pledge donation that will directly benefit the hundreds of children treated at Children's Hospital each year. Scott Miller of "Miller in the Morning" and Susie Luther will broadcast live from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days of the event. Phone banks will be open until 7 p.m. The two-day event will feature patient interviews with children who have been patients at Children's Hospital at Erlanger and their families, as well as live interviews with patients and families who are currently being treated. "This unique experience offers an opportunity for people in the community to hear first hand from the many families who have benefited from the treatment and care they've received at Children's Hospital," said Magen Hooper, Children's Miracle Network coordinator at Children's Hospital. "I encourage all listeners to call in and share their own stories as well during the three day event." "The stories shared during the event are a true testament of the life saving work that goes on every day at our region's only children's hospital," said Ms. Miller. "We hope this special broadcast will heighten the awareness of Children's Hospital in the region and raise funds for programs and equipment that will continue to enhance the work done there every day, added Susie." Partnering station Rock 105.5 will support the Radiothon by encouraging their listeners to participate in their "Pay to Play" event. Listeners can call in and request any song they wish on Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a donation of $25. The Radiothon will conclude with a live broadcast on Saturday, September 13, at Discovery Point Child Development Center, in Ooltewah. Discovery Point, located on Hunter Road, will host a car wash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise additional funds for Children's Miracle Network – benefiting Children's Hospital. All funds raised during the Children's Miracle Network Radiothon will benefit Children's Hospital at Erlanger. CMN, an alliance of premier hospitals for children, is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America. All money raised locally for CMN is used to support T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital. As the only medical center in the Chattanooga and tri-state region devoted solely to children, T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital at Erlanger provides the best in children's healthcare by viewing the world from a unique perspective of children and understanding what they need. This special environment of healing for all children, regardless of their ability to pay, is the daily and ultimate goal of everyone at T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital. |
