The Wildcats opened the scoring late in the first quarter when sophomore quarterback Jared Allen hit senior Marcus Taylor for an 18 yard touchdown with 3:46 left.
Both teams stalled out in the second quarter. The East Ridge defense made a big stop on third and fourth down with Polk County on the Pioneer two yard line.
Another Polk County drive was stopped by an interception late in the second quarter.
East Ridge moved the ball well on their opening possession of the second quarter but it ended on an East Ridge fumble.
Polk County punched another one in with 18.9 seconds left in the third quarter to take a 14-0 lead. Zeb Fletcher got the call for a 12 yard run.
East Ridge was stopped on fourth and short mid-way through the fourth quarter and ended the game with back to back interceptions on their last two posessions.
After the first interception, Zach Fletcher scored on a four yard run for Polk County.
Polk County moves to 2-0 on the season and will host Tellico Plains next week.
East Ridge is now 2-1 and will play at Howard on Friday.
