Working for the third time in four days, Bennett surrendered a three-run Elijah Dukes double that provided the Nationals a 7-4, 14-inning win over the Braves at Turner Field on Sunday afternoon.
Bennett, who had tossed two scoreless innings on Saturday, issued a leadoff walk to Anderson Hernandez and then saw Willie Harris follow with an infield single. After Lastings Milledge drew a one-out intentional walk, Dukes cleared the bases with a double that skidded past third base on its way to the left-field corner.
After Boyer surrendered Alberto Gonzalez's two-out, two-run, game-tying double in the eighth inning, the Braves produced at least one baserunner in each of the following five innings. Their best scoring threat came when they put runners on first and second with nobody out in the 11th inning. But Saul Rivera responded by recording consecutive strikeouts of Brian McCann and Gregor Blanco.
Gonzalez, who had hit his first career homer off Julian Tavarez to begin the seventh inning, denied Reyes the opportunity to win for the first time since June 13. Still, the 23-year-old hurler, who was 0-6 with a 7.75 ERA in his previous nine appearances (eight starts), impressed while limiting the Nationals to one earned run and four hits in six innings. His only damage came courtesy of Milledge's second-inning leadoff homer.
The Braves provided Reyes an early lead with their three-run second inning, which was highlighted by Chipper Jones' sun-aided, two-out, two-run double. The veteran third baseman lofted a high fly ball to center field that Milledge appeared to lose in the sun. When the ball fell to the ground, Reyes and Gregor Blanco scored easily.

Following Monday's off-day, the Braves will host the Colorado Rockies for three-games.
