Anziano's Deli Changes Hands
posted September 8, 2008

The couple that operated Anziano's Deli in the Volunteer Building since 2001 has sold the business.

Jai and Yong Kwak are the new operators of the popular deli.

David and Deborah Jane Harris Anziano had opened the deli in June of 2001. They had been married the previous May.

Both sets of parents helped the young couple get started, and Deborah's sister, Lydia, was their first employee. A family friend, Kathy Mincy, joined the operation in September 2001. Kathy's daughter, Katie, was added to the deli staff in April of 2005.

The couple's children often tagged along to the deli. Luke was born in February of 2003 and Ruby in February of 2005.

Deborah has had a side business selling Black Bean Burgers, and she decided to devote more time to this venture.

This is the first restaurant venture for the Kwaks, who are from Korea.
