AAA Women’s Services Will Receive President’s Volunteer Freedom Award posted September 18, 2008 AAA Women’s Services, Chattanooga’s pregnancy resource center, has been selected to receive the President’s Volunteer Freedom Award. The award will be presented at a White House ceremony on Friday, and accepted on behalf of the organization by Patricia Lindley, executive director and Sharon White, Client Services manager. In his 2002 State of the Union address, President George W. Bush issued a challenge to all Americans to make time to help their communities and Nation through service. He called on individuals to dedicate at least 4,000 hours – or two years – to service over the course of their lives. The USA Freedom Corps was created to help Americans answer this call to service and help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation created the President's Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. AAA Women’s Services has provided care for the community since 1985. Over the years, hundreds of Chattanooga citizens have volunteered. In 2007, nearly 5,000 hours were donated. |
