The association has been holding their 2008 state conference at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention center this week, where they presented Rep. Watson with the award.
"I am honored to have been chosen for this award," said Rep. Watson. "The Tennessee Association of Realtors doew a lot for our state and our economy, while also contributing to charitable causes."
"Rep. Watson received the award as a token of appreciation as a result of his outstanding contributions and leadership on matters relating to realtors and to the citizens of Tennessee," stated Governmental Affairs Director Russ Farrar. "Rep. Watson has fought against an increase in the property tax, worked on getting property tax relief for seniors, fought against a transfer tax, and fought for private property rights for Tennesseans."
Rep. Watson said, "I appreciate what the organization does and despite a dismal market lately, we all have to remember the Lord is in control and there are brighter days ahead. 2008 was not the year to pass a property tax increase or a transfer tax increase, and 2009 won't be either. I will continue to fight against these increases, which only hurt the consumer-the citizens of this great state."
The Tennessee Association of Realtors is one of the largest trade organizations in Tennessee with over 27,000 members statewide.
Rep. Watson is serving his second term in the legislature and resides in Cleveland.
