When Will Vietnam Vets Receive Their Honorary Degrees?
posted September 22, 2008

I read that Tennessee State University recently awarded 'honorary degrees' to 14 students who were expelled almost 50 years ago for voluntarily participating in Freedom Rides. Three of the degrees were given posthumously.

I seem to recall that during the 1960s many American boys were involuntarily pulled from American colleges by the U.S. government and sent, involuntarily, to fight in Vietnam. Their college educations were abruptly ended, as were the lives of many of them.

Now, I wonder, when will those honest, obedient, and patriotic fellows receive their honorary degrees, especially the posthumous ones?
