GPS Takes Baylor In Key Division II Volleyball Match posted September 29, 2008 The Bruisers of GPS and the Lady Raiders of Baylor met for the first time this season on the volleyball court for an important Division II region match. GPS came out the victor with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21) win. GPS coach Paul Brock was relieved to have the win behind him. "GPS-Baylor is always a great match no matter the talent level of either team and tonight was no different," he said. "To win the first region game against them is a nice start." Led by Heather Parman, the Bruisers went on the attack. Param had 24 kills, 15 assist, 25 digs, 2 aces. Jasmine Brown did a good job feeding Parham and Danna Myatt the ball to lead the GPS past the Red Raiders. Katie Dorris, Mckenzie Stokes, Jordan Grant, Aileen Johnson, and Jordan Grant stepped up for GPS who was missing two starters who were out with illnesses. "Our girls really pulled together to again win as a team," Brock said. "To find out just before game time that the regular starters were not going to be there against your biggest Rival takes a little getting use too. The Seniors did a really nice job of calming the younger players when the score got tight." GPS is now 32-4 and 3-0 in region play.
