October Is Let's Talk Month posted October 2, 2008 October is Let's Talk Month, a national campaign to encourage parents to talk with their teens about life, values, relationships, sex and drugs, character, goals and dreams. To help parents initiate these important conversations, Why Know has prepared Let's Talk Boxes that will be distributed for free during the month of October. "This is the second year we've distributed the boxes, and we've already had an overwhelming response from parents and students," said Lesley Scearce, executive director of Why Know. "Many families say that the boxes offer a fun, no pressure way to discuss life, relationships and values. Parents don't want to lecture and more than anything, kids want to be heard. This gives a great opportunity for both!" This year's Let's Talk Boxes contain 100 new thought-provoking questions that parents and teens can discuss together. The questions can be used to initiate conversation at the dinner table or even during the drive to school. Boxes will be available to local families for free during the month of October.
