The Southern Adventist University community will soon have a new resource to help individuals reach their health and fitness goals — the Hulsey Wellness Center.
This 45,113-square-foot building will be a place to learn about and practice healthy living.
A climbing wall, state-of-the-art exercise equipment, an indoor walking track, and a therapy pool will give students and members a variety of options for exercise.
A smoothie bar will provide healthy refreshments, and a 160-seat classroom with a demonstration kitchen will be used for both academic classes and community seminars.
In addition, Southern students preparing for careers in wellness will fully use the center, including its high-tech performance lab, to gain hands-on experience in their field.
Officials said, "With Tennessee being ranked sixth in the nation for obesity and an increasing number of young people experiencing weight problems, Americans are becoming more actively involved in preventing disease through diet and exercise."
