The service of dedication will occur on Monday, at 1 p.m. at Alexian Village. According to Alexian officials, the statue honors the healing strength of Christ and offers comfort to those seeking physical and spiritual peace.
The statue measures 12 feet tall and is made of fiberglass. It weighs approximately 500 lbs and was sculpted by The Demetz Art Studio in Val Gardena, Italy. It was placed in the recently completed Meditation Garden.
"We hope our residents, employees and visitors to Alexian Village will see this as a place of quiet reflection, hope, and prayer for the challenges all of us face each and every day," said Jeff Ott, president and CEO of Alexian Village. "This statue is a welcome addition to our campus and the reverence it inspires is a complement to the Brothers' ministry at Alexian."
The Welcome at the dedication ceremony will be delivered by Brother John Howard and Mr. Ott. After a brief scripture reading by Bill Weller, attendees will be led in a Thanksgiving Prayer. The Blessing of the Statue will follow. The ceremony will close after a Meditative Reading and Prayer by Reverend Valerie Carnes.
