Pitcock, Duble 1-2 In Jesse Owens Silver Division Race
Taylor Leads GPS To Fourth In Gold Division Event

OAKVILLE, AL. -- Bradley's Jacquelin Pitcock recorded a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds to win the Girls' Silver Division of the Jesse Owens Invitational cross country meet here at the Oakville Indian Mound Park Saturday.

While Pitcock was victorious, Chattanooga Christian's Jessica Duble was the runner-up with a time of 19:01.

Chattanooga Christian's Matt Coniglio finished seventh in the Boys' Gold division with a time of 16:04.

Cleveland's Alex Stephens turned in a time of 16:38 to finish third in the Silver divisio.

Red Bank's Claire Turner was sixth overall in the Girls' Gold division with a time of 18:56.

Nandia Taylor was 22nd overall in 20:09 to lead the GPS Bruisers to a fourth-place finish in the Gold division.

"We were fourth overall as a team, but the important thing was the fact that we finished ahead of Brentwood Academy and every one of our girls had personal bests," said GPS coach Jeff Gaither.

Rachel Smith was the second finisher for GPS as she finished 35th in 20:36.

Other GPS finishers included Hutton Baird in 37th at 20:40, Rachel Walter 44th in 20:47, Mary Holland Novkov 48th in 20:56, Chelsea Owens 63rd in 21:23 and Christian Bryant 91st in 22:16.

While GPS was fourth in the Gold division, Chattanooga Christian was 12th in the Silver while Bradley was 13th and Red Bank 17th.

Becky Chillinsky was Bradley's second finisher as she was 60th in 21:55. Teammate Andrea Spencer was 61st in 21:56.

While Red Bank's Turner competed in the Gold race, her teammates were involved in the Silver competition.

Anita McLure was 29th to lead the Lady Lions with a time of 20:43 while Dania Barbosa was 57th in 21:53 and Rose Morris 91st in 22:44.

Duble's runner-up finish led the Lady Chargers. Meg Sabourin was 22nd in 20:32 while Chelsea Jones was 44th in 21:37.

With Stephens leading the way, Cleveland's boys were 13th in the Silver race with Chattanooga Christian 17th.

Bradley's Trent Rutledge was 33rd in 17:46 while Red Bank's Haden York was 35th in 17:50. Jake Curtis of Bradley was 38th in 17:55.

Most of these runners will be competing in the final Chattanooga Cross Country League race on Tuesday at the Tennessee Riverpark on Amnicola Highway.
