Dorothy L. “Decie” Potter Reed, 84, died on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008.
She was currently a resident of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Chickamauga, and the Chattanooga area.
She was born Dorothy Lorene Potter on May 14, 1924, in LaFayette, Ga., the daughter of Golden Monroe Potter and Jessie Delaney Johnson Potter. She graduated from Gordon Lee Memorial High School and attended nurses training in Philadelphia, Pa., becoming a registered nurse practicing in Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Greenville, S.C., and Fort Myers, Fl.
While residing in Chickamauga, she enjoyed attending Covenant Life Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Debra Sue Fallon, of Chickamauga; her three brothers, William Potter and Cecil Potter, of Chickamauga, and J.B. Potter, of California; her two sisters, Eula Mae Turner, of Chickamauga and Lula Mae Barnes, of LaFayette.
She is survived by her youngest daughter and son-in-law, Regina D. and Harry E. Shadle Jr., of Fort Myers; two granddaughters, Memory (Andrew) Strong, of Nashville, and Melissa (Kent) Strickland, of Savannah, Ga.; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, in the chapel with Pastor Kris Taivalkoski officiating. Interment will follow at LaFayette Memory Gardens, LaFayette.
The visitation is to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, at Wilson Funeral Homes, J. Avery Bryan Chapel.
