Washington Saxophone Quartet To Perform In Lee Recital Series by Rebekah Eble, Lee University posted October 6, 2008
Review for the Washington Saxophone Quartet: Since 1997, many of the Quartet's arrangements have aired daily throughout the United States on National Public Radio. During more than a quarter century of giving recitals, informal concerts, and master classes in the United States, the Caribbean, and China, the Quartet has become a group that draws on a rich repertoire and wealth of experience to reach listeners of every age and background. The members have performed thousands of concerts in schools throughout the United States, giving them a special insight into programs for young people. A highlight and honor for the group was being chosen to perform for the 1997 Presidential Inauguration. Seasoned music lovers, newcomers to chamber music, and students alike appreciate the group's musicality coupled with its warm, engaging performance style. In 1996, the quartet celebrated its twentieth year with the release of a CD, "To China and Bach," which highlights music from the 1995 China tour. The latest recording, "Daydream" features romantic favorites. The group is endorsed by the Vandoren Corporation and records on the Americus label. This concert is free and open to the public, though seating is limited. To reserve tickets call the Lee University box office at 614-8343. |
