3-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Struck By Hit And Run Driver

Chattanooga Police have arrested a 17-year-old Hispanic man in connection with a hit and run accident that left a three-year-old child in critical condition.

The incident happened Sunday night at
2010 E 12th St. just before 7:30 when a young boy was struck after running around his mother’s car and into the street.

The mother of the victim advised police that they were parked on the side of the road, getting out of the car at the time of the incident.

The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned a short distance from the scene of the accident moments after hitting the child.

At 1 a.m., police located the suspect and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and insurance law.

The child is currently in critical condition at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital.
