Clear Channel Radio of Chattanooga on Tuesday suspended afternoon announcers Randy Smith (Boner) and “Billy Black” from Rock 105.
Jay Cruze, operations manager, said, “After reviewing comments that they made in the last few days and fielding calls, we took this extraordinary move to protect our listeners.”
Stating that Clear Channel has very strict rules governing what can be said on air, Mr. Bass would not elaborate on the issue that brought them to this point.
“This is a personnel matter that will be handled accordingly” he said.
Mr. Cruze said he hopes the show will return soon. He said, “They are very talented and I would hate to lose them in this market.”
A final decision on whether or not they might return is expected in a week.
