UTC's Sandy Cole Secures Grant Funds To Continue Youth Program
posted October 7, 2008

Sandy Cole, director of the Center for Community Career Education, has received $30,000 from the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth to continue the Positive Action with Success program for a second year.

In partnership with United Way and other community-based organizations, Ms. Cole and the CCCE staff will provide services to eight- to ten-year-old youth who are at risk for engaging in delinquent behavior. A parent or guardian for each child will participate in all program activities.

The program aims to increase the opportunities for the children to spend time positively with caring adults through academic tutoring, career exploration and character education activities, and social recreation. This year's program will serve 40 East Lake residents.
