City officials said they will find another way to honor radio legend Luther Masingill rather than name a street for him.
The City Council on Tuesday was to consider a proposal to name a section of South Broad Street "Luther Masingill Parkway."
However, it was pointed out that a 2006 city ordinance prohibits naming a street after a living person.
Officials said, instead, they may place a bronze star in front of the Tivoli Theatre in honor of Luther.
