Tournament Becomes An 18-Hole Event

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The TSSAA issued the following statement Wednesday morning.
"Due to weather conditions and the fact that we have some fairways saturated, standing water on some greens, and that we would have to complete 18 holes of play with the
field, today’s play has been cancelled. Under USGA rules of golf, the Division I Class AAA tournament will be an 18-hole tournament.''
Consequently, the final scores will be from the 18 holes played Tuesday at the Old Fort Course.
The cancellation left Soddy-Daisy sophomore Haley Cothran tied for third and the Lady Trojans tied for second in the team competition.
Cothran was four shots out of the lead and the Lady Trojans were four shots behind Rossview.
Coach Mike Pala's team consisted of Cothran, junior Lexi Stewart and freshman Jessica Cathey.
"We're very disappointed,'' Pala said, "not in the decision because we have total faith in the TSSAA, which was on top of the situation.
"We're disappointed because we were so close, but we didn't cry or complain. We'll be back next year, get out front and not give up the lead. Next year we'll be the bride and not the bridesmaid.''
