UTC's Dr. Richards Is Awarded Federal Research Grant posted October 8, 2008 UTC' Richards and his team will be testing a hypothesis that low birth weight is correlated with heavy metal exposure. Richards will collaborate with Erlanger Medical Center, the UT College of Medicine and nationally recognized experts to analyze placentas from more than 1,000 low and normal birth weight children for concentrations of metals. Dr. David Adair, Professor and Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the UT College of Medicine, and Dr. Steven Symes, UTC Associate Professor of Chemistry, will play an integral part as Co-Investigators in this project. |
