Pope, Inez Ayers (Chickamauga)

Inez Ayers Pope, 101, died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008.

She was born in Trion, Ga., to the late Samuel and Frances Eldora Dedman Ayers. She was a former resident of Macon, Ga., where she worked for Western Union as a secretary. She had been a resident of the Chickamauga community for the past 31 years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chickamauga.

She enjoyed her last four years at Rosewood Assisted Living where she made many friends and the family wishes to thank the staff for their love and care. She will be remembered by her optimistic saying “always look on the bright side of things."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie G. Pope; sisters, Ruby Henry, Mae C. Ayers; brother:, Howard Ayers; and a nephew, Bill Henry.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Flonnie Lee Ayers, of Chickamauga; niece, Judy and Rick Bailey, of Charleston, Tn.; nephews, Jerry and Phyllis Henry, of Greenville, S.C., Monty and Teresa Ayers, of Boulder, Co.; great-nephew, Chris and Rhonda Bailey, of Charleston, Tn.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday in the chapel with Pastor Lee Griggs officiating. Interment will follow Saturday in Macon Memorial Park, Macon, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Friday.
