The Three Sisters Bluegrass Festival was last Friday and Saturday down on the riverfront and featured some mighty fine music. One of my favorites, Lou Wamp and Swing Shift was on hand Saturday at noon for a one-hour concert that was really excellent. Lou is an accomplished Dobro, or resonator guitar player, and is accompanied by his band, featuring a fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin and stand-up bass. They perform a mix of bluegrass and even some Bob Wills type swing songs. Lou has played with the Dismembered Tennesseans, Bill Monroe, and many other nationally known bluegrass artists. He has surrounded himself with extremely talented musicians, including fiddle champion Meredith Goins, who will be featured in an upcoming article in the Chattanoogan.com.

To learn more about Lou Wamp and Swing Shift, try his website at click here. There are samples of his music there, the band’s schedule, photo’s and a way to contact him to book the band.

I received quite a few emails about last week’s article on Chattanooga music fans being “spoiled” with so much free music. Most agreed that the city needs a good venue that will allow promoters to bring in top name acts and still make a buck. It seems that alcohol and food sales are the keys and hopefully the city will finish the Pavilion and invest in it as a music venue.

One more tidbit - if you or your company would like to book a band for the holiday season, you better get busy. Live music makes for a great party. It doesn’t matter what kind of music you want, there is something for everyone here in Chattanooga, and all at reasonable prices. If you need some suggestions, I would be happy to get you the contact numbers for many of the local bands that play in Chattanooga. Just email me at Davrik@aol.com.

Also, the Celtic Crossroads World Tour is coming to the Northwest Georgia Bank Amphitheatre in Ringgold on Oct. 10. Tickets are available at the Memorial Auditorium ticket office, or by calling 423-642-TIXS.

And, don’t forget…you can hear music from artists scheduled to play in Chattanooga, along with the upcoming schedule of concerts, on my radio show, Chattanooga Live, Thursdays at 6 p.m. on WAWL 91.5 FM, or on www.wawl.org.
