I-75 bridge repainting (mm 33.0 to 37.0) Work on this project is underway. Throughout this report period, the contractor will have shoulder closures on I-75 South from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hiwassee River Bridge in order to perform painting operation. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained at all times. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is October 2008. Bradley/Meigs County

****Resurfacing of State Route 306 starting at S.R. 308(Lower River Road) and extending to SR 58 in Meigs County. Work on this job is scheduled to start on Monday October 6. Coffee County

SR-53 bridge construction, drainage, grading, and paving (lm 0.00 to lm 4.14) Work on this project is underway. The contractor is currently working on the bridge. Detours are set up to route traffic around construction activity. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is November 2010. Cumberland County

SR-101 (Peavine Road) bridge and approaches over I-40 (mm 322) Work continues on this project. The median of I-40 and the outside shoulders both eastbound and westbound will be closed with portable barrier rail for the duration of the project. A portion of the turn lane on SR-101 (east bound I-40 on ramp) is now closed with portable barrier rail for the duration of the project. For phase two of this project, Peavine Road will be reduced to two lanes (one in each direction) with portable barrier rail and attenuators to construct the southbound lanes. At least one lane will be maintained in each direction for northbound and southbound traffic. In addition, intermittent lane stoppages may occur on Peavine Road and on interstate ramps due to paving and grade work within close proximity to the roadway. The westbound lane on ramp (to Nashville) is closed with motorists using the temporary on ramp. Enterprise Drive is now open at its new location between Hardees and the Exxon Station on Peavine Road. SR-298 (Genesis Road) resurfacing from lm 6.79 to lm 12.32 Work on this project is underway. Fentress County

US-127 (SR-28) grading, drainage, and paving beginning at 0.2 miles north of Big Dry Creek and extending to 1.7 miles north of Jamestown Work on this project is underway. The contractor is currently performing grading operations. There are no lane closures scheduled at this time. The contractor is using a flagging operation in order to navigate construction equipment through the project. Motorists should be alert for changing traffic conditions. Jonesville Road - construction of concrete slab bridge, including grading, drainage and paving, over Mill Creek (lm 14.22) Work on this project is underway. Traffic has been detoured onto Catfish Farm Road and will remain detoured for the duration of the project. Motorists should be alert for changing traffic conditions. SR-52 construction of bridge over Big Indian Creek (lm 1.45) Work on this project is underway. Traffic is reduced to one lane in the work zone and controlled by a temporary signal system that will be in operation for the duration of the project. Motorists should be alert for construction traffic entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated project completion date is May 2009. (Wright Brothers Construction, Inc./SC).
SR-62 (S. York Hwy) Resurfacing from lm 5.81 to lm 12.71 Work on this project is underway. The contractor will use temporary daytime lane closures as needed for milling, resurfacing, rumble striping, and pavement marking activities. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated project completion date is November 2008. (Highways, Inc. /DB).
Franklin County

SR-15 (US-41A) resurfacing from McAmis Lane (lm 22.0) to north of SR-56 (lm 27.32) Work on this project is underway. The contractor will use temporary lane closures as needed for pavement marking, guardrail and resurfacing work. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during working hours. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is October 2008. (Rogers Group, Inc/ CB).
Grundy County

SR-56 (Main Street) box bridge construction, grading, drainage, and paving on over Piney Creek (lm 20.56) Work on this project is underway. The contractor is currently working on the construction of the box bridge. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is October 2008. Hamilton County

****I-75 widening project from 1.1 miles south of Lee Hwy. (SR-2 / US-11) to 1.2 miles north of Lee Hwy. (SR-2 / US-11) Work on this project continues. Here is the major work for this week:
Throughout this report period, the contractor will be paving on relocated Hunter Road and Mountain View Road and the extension of Lee Highway. They will also be working at the Snow Hill Road/Mountain View Road intersection.

They will also be working on the demolition and reconstruction of the I-75 bridge over Lee Highway at Exit 11. This work will take place at nighttime only and will require a lane reduction on Lee Highway under the bridge while the work is being performed. One lane on Lee Highway will be maintained in each direction during the work. Lee Highway will be reopened during the daytime hours. Please be alert for changing conditions.

Each night throughout this report period (with the exception of Sunday, October 12) the contractor will have lane closures on I-75 northbound and southbound between mm 10 – mm 12 from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning to set new barrier rail, realign existing barrier rail and accommodate paving operations. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
Each day throughout this report period (with the exception of Sunday, October 12) the contractor will have lane closures on Hill Top Road, Hunter Road, Snow Hill Road, Mountain View Road and Lee Highway from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to install new utilities. However, the contractor must move off the roadway from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day during the shift change at Miller Industries.
The temporary slip ramp to I-75 South is now open on Hilltop Drive. Drivers needing to access I-75 South from the Hunter Road area can now do so by using the newly-opened ramp from Hilltop Drive onto the interstate, thereby avoiding the Ooltewah interchange altogether. The slip ramp has its own dedicated lane onto the interstate, so drivers accessing I-75 South via the ramp are not required to merge when entering the interstate. The temporary ramp will be in place for the remainder of the project.
Old Lee Highway in this area will remain closed until the new bridge and approaches are complete, which is now scheduled to take place in November 2008. Access to all businesses in the area will be maintained. Detours are posted. The rest area located at the end of the project on I-75 South is now closed and will remain closed for the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is December 2010. (Bell & Associates Construction/KP).

Repainting of six bridges on and over I-24 (between mm 178 and mm 179) and I-124/US-27 (between mm 0.2 and mm 0.8) Work on this project has been completed pending final inspection. Estimated completion date is October 2008 (Industrial Painting, Inc./CG).
****Shallowford Road widening project from west of Mark Lane to west of Center Street - Work on this project continues. The contractor will have lane closures to widen the roadway throughout this report period from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the exception of Saturday, October 11 when the closure will be from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 pm on Lee Hwy. north and south of the intersection. The contractor will also be performing work on Shallowford Road north and south/east of the Lee Hwy intersection throughout this report period from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the exception of Saturday, October 11 when the closure will be from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. No work will be performed on Sunday, October 12. There will be possible delays and motorists are advised to take precaution when traveling this area. Motorists are also cautioned to observe the 35-m.p.h. speed limit throughout the construction zone. Due problems with speeding in this area, both state troopers and local police have increased enforcement. Motorists who must travel through this area are asked to be patient and to stay alert for changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is October 2008. (Greenstar, LLC/KP).
Ashland Terrace widening project from Knollwood Drive to west of Norcross Road Work on this project continues. The contractor will be constructing sidewalks and performing paving operations throughout the project area during this report period. Daily flagging operations will be set in place in order to route traffic around construction activities beginning from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional lane closures may be needed to allow the contractor to safely relocate utilities and install drainage structures. The contractor will close Highland Drive, Oak Ridge Drive, and Crestview Drive for the report period. Detours will be posted. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions and find alternative routes. Estimated completion date is December 2008. (Talley Construction Co., Inc./CG).
Installation of a Closed Circuit Camera System on various Interstate and State Routes in Chattanooga The contractor will be working throughout the Chattanooga area on various interstate and state routes for maintenance of closed circuit television system for the monitoring of traffic. They will implement short term lane and shoulder closures at various locations throughout the city between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Motorists should be use caution and be alert for changing traffic conditions. Jackson County

SR-56 resurfacing(scrub seal) from lm 17.15 to lm 27.37; SR-135 resurfacing (scrub seal) from lm 15.78 to lm 20.79. Work on this project has begun. The contractor will use temporary lane closures as needed for resurfacing and pavement marking. Motorists should be alert for construction traffic entering and leaving roadway. Lincoln County

US-64 grading, drainage, construction of concrete box bridges, and paving beginning 0.250 miles east of SR-275 (Flintville Rd.) and extending to 0.152 miles east of the Lincoln County/Franklin County Line. Work on this project is underway. The contractor will have lane shifts around construction area. Motorists should use caution and be alert while traveling through the construction zone. Marion County

I-24 resurfacing from the Grundy County Line (mm 133) to Cave Cove Creek (mm 140) Work on this project is near completion. Estimated completion date is October 2008. (Rogers Group, Inc/ BB).
US-41 (US-64/US-72/SR-2) at SR-27 intersection improvement including grading, drainage, and paving Work on this project is underway. Grading operations have begun and trucks will not be exiting the roadway. Motorists should use caution and be alert to changing traffic conditions. Estimated completion date is June 2009. Overton County

SR-52 resurfacing from 2.0 miles west of SR 85 to the Pickett County line (lm 2.26) Work on this project has begun. US-64 (SR-40) grading, drainage, and paving on US-64 (SR-40) beginning east of US-411 (SR-33) and extending to west of the Ocoee River Work on this project is underway. The contractor is currently clearing, removing structures and installing erosion control throughout the project area. Motorists should use caution and be alert while traveling through the construction zone. Estimated completion date is September 2010. (Talley Construction Company, Inc./GF).
US-411 (SR-33) grading, drainage, construction of 3 bridges and paving beginning .23 miles south of Lowery Road and extending to .32 south of Welcome Valley Road Work on this project has begun. Currently the contractor is performing survey activities, clearing and grubbing. Motorists should use caution and be alert while traveling through the construction zone. I-40 interchange lighting at the junctions with US-70N (SR-24) in Monterey (Exits 300 and 301) Work on this project is underway. The contractor will be working in the median and outside the shoulders on both I-40 and the entrance and exit ramps. SR-141 resurfacing beginning at the Dekalb County line and extending to SR56; SR-291 resurfacing beginning 1.0 miles northwest of US 70N and extending to SR-56. Work on this project is underway. Resurfacing work will result in temporary lane closures. Flaggers will be used to control traffic through the project. Estimated project completion date is October 2008. (Highways, Inc./GW).
Putnam/Overton County

Waterloo Road, bridge and approaches over Spring Creek, lm 0.65 Work on this project is underway. Waterloo Road at Spring Creek has been closed. Traffic has been detoured onto SR-136 and will remain detoured for the duration of the project. Estimated project completion date is June 2009. (Highways, Inc./GW).
Rhea County

SR-29 Widening Project from SR-68 Junction to Spring City North City Limits Intermittent lane stoppages may occur on SR-29 (US-27) due to work within close proximity to the roadway. Please note that some lane assignments on Piccadilly Avenue and on Jackson Avenue have changed. Drivers are urged to be attentive and follow the pavement markings and signs. Also, please pay special attention to the electronic turn restriction signs, which are activated by a train passing through town.
