"Stolen Valor" Charges Brought Against Carr posted October 9, 2008 "Stolen Valor" charges have been brought against a former U.S. Army National Guard officer and colonel in the Tennessee State Guard from Chattanooga. Federal authorities said James Lynn Carr "did knowingly wear decorations and medals authorized by Congress for the armed forces of the United States and service medals and badges awarded to the members of such forces, and the ribbon, button, and rosette of such badge, decoration and medal, and a colorable imitation thereof, while not authorized under regulations made pursuant to law." Gary Humble is the prosecutor. Carr was with the Army National Guard from December 1974 to April 1996 and had the rank of captain. He has been the subject of a website http://www.pownetwork.org that seeks to focus on "phonies." The site has several photos of Carr, alleging he was wearing unauthorized medals and badges in some of them. It says Carr "claims to be Special Forces, Ranger, Halo, EOD, EIB, Jumpmaster, Pathfinder, and multiple other awards." |
