Giggling Ghost At Creative Discovery Museum Oct. 18
posted October 10, 2008

Chattanooga poet Vincent Phipps is the latest teller of spooky stories in Creative Discovery Museum's series of Spooky Days events throughout October.

"Giggling Gerdi is the ghost of a small girl who likes to let people know she's still around by her eerie giggle," said Mr. Phipps. "Rumor has it that she haunts the basement of an old house and warns people not to get to close to the place where she died."

At the Museum's Spooky Days celebration on Oct. 18, Vincent Phipps will tell his story under the big tent on the Museum's roof top at 3 p.m. Other spooky fun from 1-4 p.m. includes arts activities and hot cider and s'mores.

Throughout October, Creative Discovery Museum celebrates children's literacy and storytelling with its first annual Spooky Days event. Every Saturday in October, families can enjoy activities, refreshments and a different spooky storyteller every Saturday.

Vincent Phipps is one of Chattanooga's most recognized storytellers. Having more than a decade of experience as an international speaker, he has been telling stories to audiences of all types from London to Atlanta. Through his stories, Mr. Phipps shares his unique perceptions on life as inspired by his family, friends and own experiences.

In Chattanooga, Mr. Phipps is the most requested storyteller for Chattanooga Walking Ghost Tours, a favorite among Chattanooga Haunted Hayride listeners, a two-time regional storyteller for TaleSpin storytelling festival and the creator of local storytelling events, a board member for the Arts and Education Council, and founder of Rhyme-n-Chatt Interactive Poetry.

Fall & Winter Hours through Feb. 28, 2009: Monday through Friday (except Wednesday) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m., closed Wednesday.

Tickets are $8.95 for children and adults. Creative Discovery Museum is located at 321 Chestnut Street in downtown Chattanooga. For more information, call (423) 756-2738.
