Police Blotter: Officers Have To Use Taser, Spray To Restrain Goins posted October 10, 2008 Police officers said they had to use a taser and chemical spray to restrain a man who jerked away while he was being handcuffed. The incident happened after a traffic stop on S. Seminole. Officers said it was noticed that the man in the front passenger seat had been arrested recently in the same car. He first gave his name as James David and said he had no ID on him. Officers recognized him as James Terry Goins and found he had five warrants out. He tried to get away, then had to be restrained by several officers. * * * Officer Ed Burns III was hit by a fragment of a bullet at the police firing range. The bullet had ricocheted off a steel target and struck him on the right side of the neck near the hairline. He went to a medical facility after he was unable to get the bleeding to stop. * * * Latecia Dallas said she has been driving the car of her boyfriend, Montrell Vines, while he is in the County Jail. She parked it at work at Convergys at Eastgate Mall. When she came back out, the boyfriend's car was gone. A large amount of glass was in its place. * * * Police were called on a suspicious Hispanic man on the side of Signal Mountain at the rear of a house just below the Space House. The owner of the house said the Hispanic man is his caretaker. |
